Pre-Moderation
Involves designing of assessments. Our pre-moderation process focuses on the following criteria:

Appropriateness of the selected assessment method & tools

Alignment of the assessment tasks with the learning outcomes

Appropriateness of the NZQF level, workload and the task

Appropriateness of the judgment statements (e.g. Rubrics), and evidence statements (e.g. Marking Schedule/guide).
Post-Moderation
Involves assuring of assessor decisions and the validity of assessment tools. Our post-moderation process focuses on the following criteria:

Consistency and validity of assessor decisions as per the national standards

Sufficiency of provided evidence

Validity of assessment tools
-
Authenticity and academic rigour of learner work.

Level and quality of assessor feedback.



Strategic Partnership
Moderation is an integral component of the teaching, learning and assessing cycle. It ensures quality in assessment. We work collaboratively with TEO's to improve the quality assurance cycle by:

Monitoring and evaluating the design of assessment tools for appropriateness and alignment to intended learning outcomes

Monitoring and evaluating the feedback processes and practices
-
Standardising assessment practices within and across institutions
